Barbie vs Legos

It was brought to my attention that Mattel now makes Architect Barbie.

It's kind of cool - she comes with blue prints, a little model of a house, and a hard hat.

I don't think it's going to make your daughter want to grow up to be an architect. That's what Legos are for. :)

Although Legos have gotten much cooler since I was a kid.

Photoshop Extravaganza!

Today I attended a seminar called Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It Live! It was an amazing seminar. Scott Kelby is a fantastic speaker and an equally fantastic photographer. I sat through the seminar pretty much looking like this:

but with a pen in my hand and a coffee in another. Perhaps it was the excessive caffeine that made me look like that, but I believe it wasn't.

I wanted to leave the seminar (after it was finished of course!) and just go home and shoot and photoshop. Sadly my schedule didn't allow that, and won't until possibly later in the week. I can't wait to take some of my head shots from Sunday and see what I can do with them...

SO EXCITING!

Check out Scott Kelby's website. There are a ton of great photoshop how-to's on there. Right now if you're not a NAPP member, you can still view the videos for free for 24 hours. Do it!

Photoshoot

I'm helping my roommate out with some headshots. I just thought I'd share my favorite shot.

I hope he chooses this one.

I also hope my readers understand my sense of humor. Ha!

Coolest Frickin Site.

I am slightly obsessed with abandoned houses. There is something about their quiet, crumbling, graffiti-ed walls; their defeat by nature; and their untold history that lingers within that fascinates me and terrifies me.

This website feeds my love of abandoned houses. Sadly, the photos (I believe) are all from Detroit.

Drink then Draw

While on a zippy little visit to NYC last March, I stumbled upon a shop window filled with.... used coffee cups. It was actually quite intriguing.

Then today I came across these photos, which reminded me of the fun coffee cups in NYC, but not as colorful, yet very detailed. Below are two of my favorites.

Flowers

I know roses, and flowers in general, are over photographed, but that doesn't stop me, nor many other people, from taking photos of roses in bloom trying to capture their beauty.

My roommate brought home a single rose from his director after their first current show. The rose was small and pink...and in a drinking cup filled to the tippy top with water.

After a day or so the rose exploded with beauty. I couldn't help but take a few photos.

As I was taking photos, I noticed Cooper (my parakeet) would chirp after each click of the shutter. He used to be petrified of my camera, but he latched onto the side of his cage, taking a much needed break from his carrot, and continued to chirp out criticism.

Old and Strange Photos

This is a collection of old photos I thought I would share. You can tell that some of these people have a sense of humor, some are getting in trouble,

and some are just interesting to view.

National Geographic - Visions of the Earth

Amazing photos (as always) from National Geographic!

This is a fantastic collection titled Visions of the Earth 2011. The photos vary from sea life to people. If you notice above the current collection, there are links to view past years.

This is my absolute favorite from the 2011 photos.

Half Sized Business Cards

I now have the option to design half-sized business cards. They're small, funky, and unique! I have separate cards now for my design business and for my photography business. Photography cards to follow!
