Beautiful Fine Art Photographs by Eric Cahan

Awhile back I stumbled upon Eric Cahan's photographs - beautiful and simple photos that are completely stunning. I happened to see some new photos which I thought I would share!

Costa Rica, Triptych (2013)

I had the opportunity to go to Costa Rica two years ago. It was an amazing trip filled with adventure, sloths and humidity. There is something about this photo that makes my heart want to run to the airport, credit card in hand - luggage be damned.

Busy busy!

I'm not sure where the past several days went, but I believe I was buried under a pile of photographs, sketches, and cat fur. I've been working on multiple client's orders and also various posters for other clients at the same time. Posters I will put up in a few days, and here are some of the photographs I was working on recently.

This house is actually up for auction soon. If you have any interest and would like to see some areal photographs of the property, click on any of the photos above and you will be taken to the Max Spann website for more information!

Comments and constructive criticism are always welcomed!

I've been slowly getting more of my photos onto my Society6 page. Lots of other things going on, so it wasn't a top priority. But they're having a sale today and tomorrow! Free shipping! Most of the page is prints, but there are a few mugs, a tote bag, cards, iphone cases...

Love, photography and cancer.

I had a hard time coming up with a title of this post.

The link below will bring you to the Upworthy website, and it's titled:  A Husband Took These Photos of His Wife And Captured Love And Loss Beautifully.

I found this site last night while poking around the internet, and there has been a weight on my heart ever since. Rossalyn Warren who put the photos on Upworthy says it best: I felt that I shouldn't be seeing this shapshot of their intimate, private lives.

PDN PhotoPlus Conference + Expo

It's that time again! Unfortunately I have too much going on to get away, but if you have a free day or half day, GO! It's from the 24-27th at the Javits Convention Center in New York City. Last year I got a ton of freebies, ideas and had a blast. The best free handout item I got was something at first I thought was a waste of plastic, but now I find myself using all the time.

I usually don't have pockets at my photoshoots, and my camera bag isn't always attached to me, so this little thing has come in handy more often than not. I love it.

I also got these.

I'm a sucker for things with cameras on them.

Anyway, go. Check out a lot of cool stuff, pick up some cool brochures, find out about classes in NYC, gallery openings, get some great deals from vendors and go home with a huge bag full of stuff.

Holy Holga!

I had posted before about being in a wedding a few weekends ago. Most bride and grooms give their wedding parties some kind of gift for being in the wedding. I officially got the COOLEST GIFT EVER.

That's right, a Holga film camera. And it's purple. Best. Present. Ever. They gave me some film for it too. I am so psyched.

The bride is a wedding photographer and there was a photography theme to the wedding. The centerpieces were photos of the couple, placed in a vase and submerged with water. Our place cards were film canisters with our names on them.

They also had a photobooth which we had way too much fun with. (That's the groom who is my cousin, and I).

All in all, it was a blast, I loved the theme, and I gained a pretty awesome cousin who is a photography nerd like me.

Goodbye Kodak

A sad day indeed. I'm not surprised to see that Kodak is in such a deal of debt, but it's sad to know that it's impossible to recover from that. Whenever I hear talk about discontinuing film I wonder how future photography students will learn the basics on something so easy as a digital camera. They will never know what it's like to have a roll of 200ISO and have to shoot the entire roll at 200, and wait to see what the photos look like until they are developed. I barely remember that.

I hope someone comes along and helps them out. Good luck Kodak.

Instagram. Again. Kind of.

So I am setting up an Instacanvas account to sell some of my Instagram photos. For some weird reason I have to wait a few days but I can be "bumped ahead of the line" if I get people to request my gallery. If any readers could be so kind as to click here and click "Request Gallery Opening". You don't have to do anything else is asks... just that.

Thank you in advance!

Photoshoots, business cards, oh my!

Testing out some new things I learned at the Photoshop for Photographers seminar, working on business cards and photo shoot at the beach... it's been busy!

If you have never been to a Scott Kelby seminar you need to make time and go. Even if you think you know Photoshop inside and out I guarantee you will learn something. I jump at every chance to take one of his seminars. They're educational and entertaining. He doesn't just drone on and on for hours. He's also an amazing photographer, so you not only learn more about Photoshop, but you gain some photography tips from one of the best photographers out there.

Anyway, I'll try to post some of the things I've been working on sometime over the weekend. Meanwhile, check and see if there's a Photoshop seminar coming near you! Chances are it'll be after the Olympics since he was leaving our seminar to go over to shoot.

Get rid of that camera app and get out your camera.

Interesting article on photos taken with phone cameras versus real cameras. Sadly I know some of you are reading this thinking, well duh real cameras are better. Yes, but that doesn't stop us from whipping our phones out to quickly take a photo. I have seen some very nice photos taken with iphones. I'm not talking the photos piled thick with Instagram filters, but just plain ol' iphone photos. The bad thing about these photos, and really any digital photo taken, is that technology moves on faster than we can catch up, and our photos stay frozen in time.

I went to China in 2002. I took countless rolls of film and I think around a thousand digital photos. I recently tried to print out some of those digital photos and was broken hearted to see pixelated junk when I got them back.

So, in that respect, it's kind of funny to read this article and not walk away thinking, well duh.

Space Weather

You all may be sick of me posting NASA links and things of the sort. Well, good news this isn't a NASA link! It's a Spaceweather.com link! :)

Either way I think you'll enjoy these photos... they're beautiful. The photos usually have information on location, exposure, camera, filters etc.

Here's two of my favorites.
