A few years ago I sold my Nikon D50 and got a Sony A500. I worked at a camera shop during this transaction, and was laughed at by a few coworkers. First of all let me tell you that working at a camera shop is like being in a modern day West Side Story (or Twilight I suppose, with their Team Whatshisface and Team Otherguy). There were the Canon people, the Nikon people...and everyone else. The Canon people rivaled up against the Nikon people, but gathered together to laugh at the Sony, Fuji and Olympus people.
Buying a Sony was like getting kicked out of the cool kids club. I admit, when I found out Sony started making cameras I laughed and thought they should stick to stereo equipment. Then I found out they bought Konica-Minolta, and decided to look into their cameras. I have an old Minolta Maxxum 7000i which I love dearly. It's been all over the globe with me and always takes fantastic photos. <3
I realized if I bought a Sony, all of my Minolta lenses would fit onto it. How exciting is that? So my one lensed Nikon started looking pretty lame, and off it went.
I love my camera. Love it to bits. It hasn't traveled all over the world with me yet, but hopefully soon. However, I really, really
really
really want this.
And with a $6,000 price tag, I should probably get back to work.
Or win the powerball.
