This is the wedding cake for the couple whose wedding invitations I did. I did not do the cake, but I am excited to say I inspired it!
Congratulations Amanda and Nate!

Wedding Invitations
The following images are the wedding invitation for the couple whose save the date I posted a while back.
The groom has his recreational pilot's license, and the bride [as well as the groom] has an adorable pet skunk. Since the wedding is in the fall, these three details guided us in designing their invitations.
Please click on any image for a closeup. When it shows each image at a larger size, you will notice a black border which was added for the sole purpose of posting a white background image on a white background webpage.
This is the outside of the invitation.
When you open the invitation you see:
This is the direction page. We wanted to have just the leaves on this page and the inside of the invitation.
This is the reception information page. On this page we wanted to only have the skunk and paper airplane, and give the leaves a break.
And finally, this is the reply card. This was post card sized so guests were able to send this back without the hassle of extra envelopes.

In search....
I am looking to find a new printer for wedding invitations. My new printer doesn't print anything along those lines, and my old printer isn't the best choice.
I've scoured the internet for wedding invitations, and most of the sites out there are for pre-made invitations.
If anyone knows of any sites where you can upload a design please let me know! Thanks!

Cakes on the Side
A few years ago I stumbled into cake decorating. It has grown significantly over the years, so of course I have made myself business cards! These are actually the second batch - I added my blog and changed the photos on the back. For internet purposes only, I changed my phone number to my email address. I rather not have my cell phone number out on the internet. :)

CS4
Last Wednesday I attended an all day seminar on CS4 - the newest Adobe Photoshop. The name of the seminar was Photoshop for Photographers, and each of the five classes were about different things you can do with your photos. It was very interesting because I have never altered any of my own photos for my website, just photos for recreational purposes and photos owned by an architectural firm I worked at.
The speaker opened a new door of options I never considered for my own photos. I tend to feel that if you alter your photograph more than just dodging, burning, and things of the sort - it enters the art world and leaves the photography world. It seemed that the speaker at the seminar had the same feelings. He would refer to his heavily photoshopped images as "illustrations" instead of photos.
I've decided that I'm going to work with some of my photos and see what I come up with. I have a new note on my website that says my photos are not altered or photoshopped unless otherwise noted - this way it is clear which photos are originals, and which are so called "illustrations".
I'm excited to see what I come up with!

Photography
I've always been interested in Photography. Most people are, as it is a common interest - especially with the prices of point-and-shoot digital cameras going down. I can't help but be one of those die hard stick-in-the-muds and say that I like film better. The film vs. digital war is as common as Coke vs. Pepsi or PCs vs. Macs. There is no one right answer or opinion, but everyone will still argue their points.
Back to photography... So after Architecture school I decided that I wanted to spend more money on schooling and learn photography. There are fields of photography that I could never get into, and am amazed at those photographers who venture into wedding photography, portrait photography and sports photography. Kudos to all of you in that field who love it! My course had us touch upon all aspects and fields of photography, and I just could not grasp those three. That is one thing people don't realize, that just because you are a photographer doesn't mean you excel in every field. Every time someone asks me about portraits and weddings, I send them off to friends of mine who specialize in those fields.
I drove my cousin mad while visiting her in Austria, making her wait while I took just "one more quick photo" of something interesting. You don't have to go outside of the country to get great photos, but I can't help but feel that photos of something a little out of the ordinary, or a little different from what you're used to, are the ones that catch your eye.
